Stain Removal

Every household is aware of Stain and some time or the othe looks for stain removal techniques. Stains can be on any item ranging from clothes to carpets, walls to curtains.
Stain removal is a process to remove stain, spot or mark from a surface like fabric. These stains are usually left by substance when it gets in contact with the fabric. A deteregent or solvent or can be used to remove stains. Not all stains can be removed permanently and not all stain removers can be used on all types of fabric.

Detergents
Detergents can help to emulsify compounds that are not usually soluble in water. Hence, they can remove oil and dirt. Stains caused by such components can be removed using detergent.

Solvents
Solvents usually dissove the stains on a fabric. Stain removal will depend on the agent causing stain and the fabric that has been stained. Some solvents are strong enough to dissolve the fabric along with the stain. Hence, using the right solvent and in the correct way is important.

Acids
Citric acid or items containing citric acid like Lemon juice or vinegar contain active bleaching agent. These can be used to remove stains. These can help remove rust stains as well.

Stain Removal Process:
Different stains require different methods to be followed. Incorrect method may lead to damage of fabric.
Most commonly used methods include -
1. Soaking
2. Front Sponging
3. Back Sponging
4. Application of Pressure
